It's time to put on some Tom Jones and do "The Carlton" because The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air cast has reunited, and it will have your life "flipped turned upside down."
On Instagram, Will Smith shared a photo of the reunion, featuring cast members Alfonso Ribeiro (Carlton Banks), Tatyana Ali (Ashley Banks), Karyn Parsons (Hilary Banks), Daphne Reid (Aunt Vivian Banks 2), DJ Jazzy Jeff (Jazz), and Joseph Marcell (the Banks' butler Geoffrey). The original Aunt Viv, Jane Hubert, is also pictured in a second photo. And, most notably missing was the late James Avery, who played Will's Uncle Phil.
In his caption, Smith wrote, "Today is exactly 30 YEARS since The @FreshPrince of Bel-Air debuted! So we’re doin’ something for y’all… a for real Banks Family Reunion is comin’ soon to @HBOmax! RIP James. #FreshPrince30th."
Ali echoed on her own Instagram, "Oooooooo Today was something else. I can’t wait for everyone to see. Happy 30th Anniversary Fresh Prince of Bel Air!"
Also tagged in each post was HBO Max where fans will be able to see the Banks' "family reunion."
The sneak peek at the reunion comes after Smith revealed that The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is being rebooted and has been picked up for two seasons by NBC's streaming service Peacock — but as a drama called Bel-Air. On Instagram, Will announced in a lengthy post:
"18 months ago, a young filmmaker from Kansas City @cooperfilms uploaded a video on YouTube reimagining The @freshprince of Bel-Air for present day as a DRAMA! Everybody sent it to me. It was outstanding. I had NEVER envisioned revisiting the Banks family in this way. We knew this was special, so we called @ryokanproductions and asked him to lead the team (he wrote on The Wire) and he said YES! Months of writing, developing and pitching… and now it’s happening. “Bel-Air” got a TWO SEASON order, debuting in 2021 on @nbc’s streaming service @peacocktv. Morgan Cooper and Chris Collins, you are THE TRUTH!!"
