Winnie Harlow and Kyle Kuzma have announced their engagement.
According to Vogue, the model and NBA player got engaged on Thursday (February 13) in Turks and Caicos.
Kuzma said the idea for the proposal came in 2022 after the couple went to Turks and Caicos on vacation together for the first time. During the vacation, the couple went on a sunset swim and watched the stars slowly become visible in the sky, which Harlow described as the best day of her life. Kuzma said he knew it would be the perfect place to eventually get down on one knee.
The NBA player said he surprised Harlow with the engagement, telling her that they were taking a couple's trip to Turks. After being chartered on a private plane decorated with roses and balloons, Harlow said she just assumed Kuzma was being romantic for Valentine's Day.
Kuzma's proposal started with him reading a poem he had written.
"For a split second in my head I thought, This would be so cute if this was an engagement,” Harlow recalled. “But I’m also not the type of person who wants to guess or wants to spoil a surprise. So it just was a fleeting thought in my head.”
Kuzma ended the poem with “Will you be my wife?” and pulled out an 8.5-carat ring.
Once the plane landed, Harlow tried to call her family to tell them the exciting news. She later found them in the couple's villa along with Kuzma's family as part of the engagement surprise.
The exciting day concluded with a dinner set-up on the beach and fireworks.
“We’re over the moon,” Harlow told Vogue of her engagement.
