Former Olympic figure skater Surya Bonaly says her medals were stolen from her Las Vegas home.

In an Instagram post on Friday (November 7), Bonaly shared photos from her competitive career as a figure skater, writing that her European and championship awards had been stolen from her home.

“You see all those medals that I won in the past while competing in different worlds and European championships are sadly gone," Bonaly said. “Several days ago someone — I mean a couple — burglarized my home and stole all my valuable [items]. Little reminder to Vegas residents or pawn shops: if you ever see some foreign gold and silver medals for sale, please please call the police immediately thanks🙏.”

According to FOX5 Vegas, Bonaly, a five-time European champion and nine-time French national champion, was in Minnesota caring for her mother, who is battling lung, breast, and sternum cancer, at the time of the break-ins. The former athlete, who competed in three Winter Olympics, is also currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

Bonaly said the burglars allegedly broke into her home over four consecutive days, leaving her property ransacked.

“I realized that my medals were gone,” she said. “European champion or world champion, junior, everything — any medals that I had with my skating.”

Surveillance footage obtained by FOX5 reportedly shows multiple suspects arriving at Bonaly’s residence. One person appeared to wear a black hoodie, and another wore a delivery vest, which appeared to be discarded nearby.

“I feel like sometimes I want to cry,” Bonaly said. “Some people just feel like it’s better to steal something from someone than to go to work.”

The former Olympian added that she’s hoping her medals aren’t destroyed.

“I’m hoping that I can find maybe some medals. I’m hoping, and I pray really that no [one’s] gonna melt that medal.”

Bonaly said she has filed a police report with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Summerlin Area Command, and the investigation is ongoing.
