Summer is almost here, and for many teenagers across the country, that means it’s time to find a part-time job. They can be tough to come by these days, but new research may help point teens in the direction of a gig that’ll help them make the most money. A new report from Resume Genius highlights the highest-paying jobs for teens.
Most teenagers aren’t looking for a job to be a stepping stone for their career, just a way to make some extra money, according to Nathan Soto, career expert at Resume Genius. But he says the job experience can give them a leg up when they finally are looking for a full-time position.
- The career platform uses data from the U.S. Bureau of Statistics to come up with their ranking.
- Topping the list of high-paying jobs for teens is car technician and mechanic, which has a median hourly wage of almost $24.
- While landing this job depends on “natural ability or skill in mechanics” and basic knowledge of vehicles, teens with the right skills can get expect that top pay.⠀

- Retail supervisor - Median hourly wage: $22.75
- Coach and scout - Median hourly wage: $22.08

- Tutor - Median hourly wage: $19.27
- Shelf stocker - Median hourly wage: $18.72
- Gardener - Median hourly wage: $18.31
